After the marinas and rocky coastlines of the northern west coast, we packed up and headed south to another part of the Swedish west coast. This time we wanted a bit more luxury and beaches which we certainly got two hours south in a small town called Torekov.
The Torekov Hotel belongs to The Gram chain of hotels all located in Skåne. It is probably the least known out of the three but it does not skimp on standard. We decided to book this mainly adult only spa resort for three nights with the same aim as before. To give us time to relax and little bit of exploring.
Our rooms was a double room in a villa. Each villa has three rooms, all of which face in a different direction so you can have your own private patio area.
The resort is very small so everything is close by in one place. From our room to the restaurant and spa was a quick 30 second walk but we never heard any noise.
The restaurant area it self was incredibly inviting with a formal dining area but also a lounge area where you could relax or even lay down with views of the pool area.
Our package allowed access to the spa each day. Due to COVID any time after 2pm had to be a booked time which I really appreciated. We always chose a booked time and it was perfect, ensuring there were never too many people and so easy to keep our distance. The staff were really conscious of this throughout our stay.
Just like our time at Björholmen, we decided to book our meals in advance which meant we had the choice of a three course meal every night and the food was again…delicious.
Also just like our last hotel, the menu was kept small to ensure quality only offering three starters, three mains and three desserts on the al a carte menu but the lunch menu was all day if you wanted something different.
The restaurant area was big enough for all the guests to be spaced out and there was plenty of indoor and outdoor space depending on the weather and preference.
The location of the hotel was also what attracted us to this part of Sweden. Just a short walk down from the hotel grounds is the coast with a jetty for the morning dip and some great walking routes.
Because the Torekov hotel is on a hill, you walk down towards the coast which gives you some beautiful sunset viewpoints.
During the day, there are plenty of places to explore. Just a short 15 to 20 minute drive away are some beautiful beaches. During our stay we visited Glimminge Plantering which had sandy beaches and big jumping jetty which seemed very popular with families.
We also drove down to Ängelsbäcksstrand which was my favourite. Light, golden sand with shallow, clear water that was warm and so calm.
And that was just the south part of the area. You can easily catch a ferry to Hallands with regular departure times from Torekov centre if you fancied doing something a little more adventurous. The hotel can organise it for you and pack you a picnic lunch to take with you. After New Zealand we have continued our boats hiatus for a while but it looks stunning.
Overall our stay in Torekov at the Torekov Hotel felt like a little piece of luxury. The resort is well maintained, clean, spacious with a modern design. The whole feel of the place was calm, so much so that they encourage you to spend almost all your time in the robes and slippers they provide during your stay. The slow pace was everything we wanted and the beautiful surroundings really completed that ‘holiday feeling’.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a luxury getaway. Especially for those looking to experience the natural beauty of Skåne whilst eating good food and relaxing in a well designed spa.
You won’t regret it.
